National residential asbestos heatmap – 2023 update

18 Dec 2023

An update to the National Residential Asbestos Heatmap, a resource developed for government stakeholders, is almost here! Version 2.1 has been produced using improved prediction methods, as well as additional asbestos data and the latest predictor data. The updated heatmap continues to show the likelihood of asbestos presence by geographic areas across Australia and includes a new prediction confidence rating.

Version 2.1 of the heatmap will be available via a renewed WebGIS platform until the end of February 2024. Access information will be shared separately with government stakeholders.

The heatmap is a significant resource for asbestos risk control in the residential environment. Get in touch with us to find out how to apply the heatmap in ways that will best support your work. Please email enquiries@asbestossafety.gov.au with the subject heading Heatmap support and include details of your request.
