Asbestos Safety and Eradication Council

About the Council

The Asbestos Safety and Eradication Council is made up of a Chair and nine members appointed under the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency Act (2013).

The Council has five members representing the Commonwealth, state, territory and local governments and two members representing the interest of workers and employers. It also has two members who are selected for their experience and expertise. There are currently two observers.

What the Council does

Its main functions are to monitor the implementation of the National Strategic Plan for Asbestos Awareness and Management and provide advice and recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer.
