Updates to the Asbestos Product Guide
To date, the Asbestos Product Guide has received a total of over 25,000 views since launching in September.
We are continuously reviewing and updating the Guide, with many of the original pages now containing additional images and information. Further product information pages have also been added to the Guide, including the below:
- Loose-fill asbestos insulation
- Insulated heater banks
- Asbestos cement cable troughing
- Timber faced asbestos cement sheeting
- Pile casings and support structures for wharves and jetties
- Telecommunications cable jointing pits
- Industrial oil separators
To assist us with ongoing updates to the Guide, we are looking for contemporary images of the following asbestos products:
- Textured finishes for application on walls and ceilings – Artex was a brand sold in Australia
- ACM school chalkboards – Hardies had a line under the brand: VELOBLAC in the early 20th Century
- AC water tanks (roof space, flat roof top or other)
- AC or asbestos resin cisterns
- Woven packings/jointings
If you have any images of the above items, please send these to engage@asbestossafety.gov.au along with a description and summary of the installation, as well as any relevant hazard information. If the image/s are large files sizes, we can provide you with a link to a file sharing platform to assist with the upload.
