Safety information: asbestos and flooding

26 Mar 2021

Asbestos is a hazard that might be encountered when cleaning up after flooding.

If your  home was built before 1990, it is safest to assume it contains some asbestos.

Materials containing asbestos may have come loose or been damaged during the floods.

If you are in this situation, it is important you know the 'dos and don'ts' to stay safe whilst cleaning up.

The NSW Government has resources to help and to provide advice.

The QLD Government has resources available here.
