Draft National Guide for Asbestos Surveys now available for comment
We are pleased to announce that consultation on the draft National Guide for Asbestos Surveys is now open!
The guidance has been developed by the Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication Agency together with a technical working group consisting of asbestos professionals, industry associations, regulatory authorities and worker representatives.
It aims to provide a nationally recommended, robust and standardised process for conducting asbestos surveys (also known as asbestos inspections or audits) so that effective actions can be taken to prevent exposure to airborne asbestos fibres.
Asbestos surveys must be carried out by competent persons (surveyors). While the Guide is mainly designed to be a practical resource for surveyors, it also provides important information for their clients and others with responsibilities for managing in-situ asbestos, including in residential premises.
We are therefore seeking comments from anyone involved in asbestos surveys.
This consultation also invites comments on ASSEA’s new web-based Asbestos Product Guide which provides images and descriptions of various types of asbestos materials that were manufactured and/or marketed and used in Australia.
