A suite of new resources for local government has been launched to assist with waste management strategies and to eliminate or minimise the risks caused by illegal disposal of asbestos.
Action on illegal disposal of asbestos – A Guide for Local Government provides advice to councils on ways to change community behaviour throughout the asbestos waste journey, from awareness through to removal and finally the disposal stage.
Check out the Quick Reference Guide for an easy to follow two-page resource that summarises the Guide and highlights the asbestos waste journey risk zones, actions councils can take, and principles for developing actions on illegal disposal of asbestos.
We will also be releasing fact sheets to highlight key sections of the Guide. Use these fact sheets to help your council take action to protect your workers and the community. The first one to be released is Barriers to safe and lawful disposal of asbestos. Keep an eye out as more fact sheets are released over the coming months.
