Improving education and training for those at risk of exposure to asbestos fibres.

The current National Asbestos Awareness Campaign will cover the annual National Asbestos Awareness Week 2025, and an additional burst in March/April 202 to coincide with increased DIY and renovation activity around the Easter period. 

Since 2020 ASSEA has been running awareness campaigns to raise awareness of asbestos, asbestos safety and asbestos related diseases throughout Australia.

There is an ongoing need for vigilance to prevent exposure to asbestos fibres and the need for safe, proactive removal. National Asbestos Awareness Week is an opportunity to continue this conversation with the public.

Investigating influences on people’s behaviour and how to encourage safer choices.

Integrating a map of the prevalence of asbestos in houses across Australian neighbourhoods into Commonwealth Government databases to help planning for asbestos removal and to ensure community safety in response to natural disasters.

Supporting the development of new technologies for the real-time detection of asbestos, and providing guidance for regulators and manufacturers on best practices for the design and use of portable devices.
