The Audit and Risk Committee provides independent advice to the CEO on the agency’s reporting, risk management and systems of internal control.

The agency's Audit and Risk Committee provides independent advice and assurance to our CEO, assisting them to meet their duties and obligations regarding financial and performance reporting, risk oversight and management, and systems of internal control.

Stephen Sheehan

Stephen Sheehan is a Certified Practicing Accountant with a 40 year career in the public and private sectors in financial management, accounting, financial operations, performance reporting, audit and risk management and organisational governance. Stephen also sits on six other Public entity Audit Committees including the Murray Darling Basin Authority (also chair of their financial statements sub-committee), Comcare, IP Australia, the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and the Department of the House of Representatives.

Paul O’Connor

Paul is a highly experienced governance leader. His governance acumen is forged across more than 20 governance roles in public, statutory, private, and not-for-profit entities.

Paul is current the interim University Secretary for RMIT University heading its governance portfolio. He chairs Dams Safety NSW, a safety regulator within the DCCEEW portfolio. Paul is also a non-executive director on other boards in philanthropy, emergency medicine, and education.

A former Visiting Fellow within the ANU School of Regulation and Global Governance, Paul continues to contribute to its master’s program on governance and regulation. This program encourages new approaches to tackling adaptive problems faced by federal and state regulators. Paul is currently a Research Fellow at Swinburne University in its School of Business, Law, and Entrepreneurship.

Paul is the founder of O’Connor Partners, a commercial advisory firm helping clients solve for challenging governance, regulatory, risk issues, innovating service delivery for improved outcomes, impact, and sustainability.

Peta Miller

Dr Peta Miller is a senior human factors professional with over 40 years of experience within the public and private sectors developing and implementing strategic work health and safety (WHS) policy and practice and research translation. Peta has extensive knowledge of the Australian WHS legislative framework and related national and jurisdictional policy development processes.

Julia Harrison

Julia Harrison has over 25 years public sector experience in governance, insurance, risk and audit management (financial statement, internal audit and performance). Currently a risk practitioner for the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, Julia has implemented the department’s enterprise risk arrangements, including governance oversight, enterprise risk systems and lines of control. Julia previously worked for the Department of Finance in Governance and Federal Budget roles.
