The ANSP 2019–2023 commits governments to develop jurisdictional action plans that align with the ANSP national priorities and strategic actions. By having their own plans, governments will be able to show that they are taking proactive steps at a whole-of-government level to prevent exposure to asbestos fibres, and engage the local community in cooperating with these steps.
In a world first, the Asbestos Diseases Research Institute (ADRI) based in Concord, Sydney has been designated by the World Health Organisation as a Collaborating Centre for the Elimination of Asbestos Related Diseases.
