GP Awareness Survey
The GP Awareness Survey focuses on understanding general practitioners’ awareness of silica-related health risks and their role in early detection and patient education.

The Silica Awareness Survey is the first of an annual piece of research, aligned with the Silica National Strategic Plan (SNSP), and designed to understand how Australians perceive and respond to the risks of respirable crystalline silica exposure. The survey is structured using a behaviourally-informed approach to investigate not just what people know, but how that knowledge translates into behaviour.

The Asbestos National Strategic Plan 2024-2030 was developed in consultation with a wide range of stakeholders, including all levels of government, unions, industry and asbestos support groups. The Plan has also been informed by the findings of an Economic Evaluation of Asbestos Management and Removal Options and an Analysis of the 2012 Asbestos Management Review.

Supporting the development of new technologies for the real-time detection of asbestos, and providing guidance for regulators and manufacturers on best practices for the design and use of portable devices.

Integrating a map of the prevalence of asbestos in houses across Australian neighbourhoods into Commonwealth Government databases to help planning for asbestos removal and to ensure community safety in response to natural disasters.

The National Dust Disease Taskforce was established to address the concern about the emerging trend of new cases of accelerated silicosis in Australia.
