National Asbestos Awareness Week

There is an ongoing need for vigilance to prevent exposure to asbestos fibres and the need for safe, proactive removal. National Asbestos Awareness Week is an opportunity to continue this conversation with the public.

National Asbestos Awareness Week (NAAW) is held during the last week of November each year. It aims to remind the public of the dangers of asbestos. It allows for a reflection on the made since the national asbestos ban but also aims to highlight the significant amount of ageing asbestos material remaining in our built environment.

The annual campaign focuses on general asbestos awareness and safety in the home and workplace. It aims to maintain and improve awareness, and influence behaviour change to prevent harmful exposure to asbestos fibres. Every year the focus and messaging are reviewed to ensure that it is reaching the people it will help most.

To support NAAW, ASSEA produces a campaign pack each year containing fact sheets, social media tiles, posters and videos so that other organisations and individuals have the tools they need to create engaging messaging.

National Asbestos Awareness Week 2025

This year’s National Asbestos Awareness Week (NAAW) campaign reminds Australians that ‘Asbestos can kill’, urging all Australians to beware of ageing and deteriorating asbestos, particularly as the summer season approaches, and home renovation projects kick off. Our aim is to promote the use of recognisable imagery and consistent messaging to improve awareness and prevent exposure to asbestos fibres.

Please download the campaign pack to access materials to use during NAAW. Design files are also available for you to insert your own logo.
