We are pleased to announce that the Commonwealth and state and territory governments have endorsed both the Phase Three Asbestos National Strategic Plan 2024-2030 (ANSP) and the Silica National Strategic Plan 2024-2030 (SNSP).
To date, the Asbestos Product Guide has received a total of over 25,000 views since launching in September.

In October, Julia Collins, Director of Awareness and International, accepted an invitation to speak at the 7th Asian Network of Occupational Hygiene Conference in Kuala Lumpur, hosted by the Malaysian Industrial Hygiene Association (MIHA). The Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication Council (ASSEC), provides advice to the Minister and to the CEO of the Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication Agency (ASSEA) on the National Strategic Plans for Asbestos and Silica Management and Awareness. This is a communique of their meeting held on 20 November 2024.
The National Asbestos Awareness Campaign (NAAC) 2024–25, reminded Australians that ‘Asbestos Can Kill’. It targeted Australians aged 18 to 55, with a focus on DIY/renovators and tradespersons.
The campaign materials aim to encourage homeowners to respect the risks, know the facts and seek expert guidance before tackling a project in the home that may contain asbestos.

The aim of this project was to evaluate the levels of asbestos fibres in drinking water supplied through AC pipes, while concurrently gathering data and information on factors that may influence the levels of asbestos fibres in water. Asbestos fibres were not detected in any of the water samples.
