The Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication Agency (ASSEA) monitors the implementation of the ANSP and reports on progress, consistent with requirements in the Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication Agency Act 2013.
First Progress Report of the ANSP 2024–30
The first report of ANSP 2024–30 covers progress made by the Australian Government and all state and territory governments, from 1 January 2024 until 30 June 2025.
This report highlights the collective actions being taken under the national priorities of the ANSP 2024–30. It includes an update on strategic actions that commenced in previous years that require sustained effort, as well as new initiatives that are in early or preparatory stages, with full implementation expected to take several more years.
The second progress report will cover 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026.
ANSP Review
The ANSP 2024–30 will be reviewed by ASSEA at least once during its operation, and at its expiration. An ANSP Evaluation and Monitoring Framework will be developed to establish the parameters for these reviews.
The reviews will include an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect and comment on the effectiveness of the ANSP to facilitate safe, proactive removal and disposal of asbestos.
Where improvements are identified, ASSEA will recommend appropriate amendments to relevant ministers for their consideration.
