Recall of coloured sands – November 2025
On 12 and 13 November the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) published two recall notices for coloured sand products that may contain asbestos and are sold at various retailers in Australia.
The products have been recalled as testing has detected asbestos in some samples. Asbestos is a prohibited substance in Australia.
The products are labelled as:
- Kadink Sand (1.3kg)
- Educational Colours - Rainbow Sand (1.3kg)
- Creatistics - Coloured Sand (1kg).
- Kadink – Decorative Sand (6x10g tubes)
These products have been sold in Australia between 2020 and 2025.
To see the recall notice and find out what to do, visit the ACCC website: Search consumer product recalls | ACCC Product Safety.
If you need to dispose of asbestos, you can find a disposal facility in your state or territory here: Disposal facilities. If you plan to visit a disposal facility, we recommend that you call ahead of your visit to confirm that the details are still accurate as facility operations may change from time to time.
